The Quebec Event

Recent events have illustrated insidious corruption within our political system. Because of this, corruption/ZÉRØ decided to start up this public citizen’s forum. By this method, we want members of society to express themselves on this issue. Ultimately, our actions will lead up to December 9th, which is the United Nationas International Anti-Corruption Day. On this day, we will propose a series of recommendations aimed at cleaning up the functioning of our political system. This declaration will be aimed primarily at our elected officials, although it also aims to reassure the population that the younger generation wishes to act to clean up public affairs.

As such, we will take a stand against biased public bids, manipulation with regards to the management of public coffers and general indifference of the population. On December 9th, we invite you to take a stand, at 275 Notre-Dame Street East, where we will unite our voices, on the steps on Montreal City Hall, to denounce secret financing and detours taken by modern politics. We must demand an end to the secret exchange of brown envelopes, and seek the emergence of a clean, ethical and renewed vision of our political system!

International Anti-Corruption Day

By Resolution 58/4 of October 31st, 2003, the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (referred to as «General Assembly ») proclamed the date of December 9th as International Anti-Corruption Day. This Resolution was passed to raise international awareness of corruption and the role of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in combating and preventing it.

The General Assembly urged all States and competent regional economic integration organizations to sign and ratify the United Nations Convention against Corruption as soon as possible in order to ensure its rapid entry into force.
